This guide explains how to use the Vitalacy SmartBadge to monitor handwashing compliance in patient care areas. It covers proper badge placement, system functionality (sensors and beacons), the compliance window, and access to personal scores.
What we need from you:
- Clip the SmartBadge to your upper torso with the logo facing outward using your facility badge holder. We prefer that it be clipped not on top of your facility ID.
- Avoid: pockets (including back pockets) or removing it unnecessarily.
How the Vitalacy Hand Hygiene System works:
- We only monitor handwashing in patient care areas only. This means lounges, break rooms, and anywhere without a location beacon are not monitored.
- We have placed sensors inside of each soap and sanitizer dispensers to collect hand washing events.
- Beacons are in both the halls and rooms. This way we can distinguish when you are washing in hallways vs. in a patient room.
The Magic Number: 60 Seconds
- If you happen to forget to wash your hands after entering or exiting a patient's room, it's all good! You have a 60 second window to still be considered compliant.
- This 60-second window also applies to clean periods. Washing in the nurse station before entering a room within 60 seconds counts as compliant. The same applies when exiting a room and entering another. No double washes needed!
Compliance Score Access:
- Your unit managers use scores to identify trends and monitor overall unit/department performance, not individual activity.
- You can access your personal score by requesting an invite through your facility admin or emailing help@vitalacy.com.
Support:
