After each shift, you need to remove the SmartSensor from its holder, either the Band or Clip, and wipe it down thoroughly with any cleaning material or solution listed below.
Then place the cleaned SmartSensor, back into the Charging Station to charge for the next use.
Like many other devices in your facility, our SmartSensors are ideally cleaned using Isopropanol (Isopropyl Alcohol)-based wipes, like:
Alcohol prep pads with at least 70% isopropyl alcohol like this Medline one pictured below.
Easy Screen® PDI electronic wipes
Prevantics® Device Swabs
To disinfect your SmartSensors and other devices, you can use any disinfectant made for hard, non-porous surfaces. For day-to-day disinfection, we recommend using disinfectants with Quaternary Ammonium AND Isopropanol or Hydrogen Peroxide. If necessary, for devices being used in CDiff rooms, you are able to use bleach-based disinfectants as well.
Below are a few EPA List N or K disinfectants that contain Quaternary Ammonium with Isopropanol or Hydrogen Peroxide:
Sani-Cloth® Prime Wipes or Spray (EPA 9480-12)
San-HyPerCide® Wipes or Spray (EPA 9480-14)
Please note, the brand choice is not a requirement but a choice based on commonly used products in hospitals and other healthcare facilities.
