The Ins and Outs of Assigning your Sensor
Checking out a Vitalacy SmartSensor is a vital part of the patient care journey and ensures that your hand hygiene compliance is recognized. Your unit’s Kiosk will be located in a central location, such as the nurse station, staff lounge, or close to where you clock-in. To ensure that all hand wash events are recorded properly, we encourage all staff members to check-out a SmartSensor at the beginning of their shift and wear it until the end of their shift.
Once you are ready to check-out your SmartSensor, head over to the Kiosk and follow these steps:
Step 1:
User ID
The below image shows the Kiosk check-out screen; this is the same screen that you should see when approaching the Kiosk. The first bit of information that you will need is your User ID. In most cases, your User ID will be the same as your Employee ID number given to you by your manager or facility administrator.

Step 2:
Choosing a SmartSensor
Now that you have your User ID entered, you can choose a SmartSensor from the Charging Station. Each available SmartSensor will have a 4-digit code displayed on their screen. Once you have selected a SmartSensor, simply remove it from the Charging Station.
Step 3:
SmartSensor ID
Once you have removed your SmartSensor from the Charging Station, select the first blank space under ‘SmartBand ID.’ This ID refers to the 4-digit code listed on the SmartSensor that you selected.

Step 4:
How to Know Your Device is Ready
When the 4-digit code is entered on the Kiosk, select the ‘Get Started’ option. There will be two indicators that your SmartSensor is now ready to wear and ready to capture your hand hygiene compliance.
The first indicator is on the Kiosk, as shown in the image below:
The second indicator will be on your SmartSensor. You will feel a vibration from the Sensor and the screen will change, shown in the image below:
Step 5:
Happy Washing!
Now that your SmartSensor is correctly assigned to you, the last step is to wear your Sensor throughout the remainder of your shift and be an example in the pursuit for patient safety!
Once your shift is over, simply plug your SmartSensor back into the Charging Station that you checked out from.
